Progress Report 5
4.23.10
I have been working mainly to catch up in honors the past week and a half, but I am steadily making plans for my new project. I want to spray paint the outside of the frames black or white and connect them in a tryptic. I want to paint faces inside of each one with abstractions behind them.

3.19.10
I finished three radial symmetry pieces and am moving back towards the overlaying images that I started with. This time, instead of overlaying the images I am putting text behind or inside of where the white background was on the women. The backgrounds are pastel colors, the woman are black lines drawings, and the text is white cursive.

3.5.10
I have finished the original drawing overlays from my previous Progress Report. I am onto making new designs using similar images, but making designs using a method to make radial symmetry. These are pretty easy to make, but the results are really interesting. I love the way that radial symmetry looks.
Progress Report 2
2.19.10
I have started a new investigation using old style images of woman in corsets. I am working to remove the white backgrounds of each image, while keeping the black lines of the drawings. I am overlaying the images on top of each other to make a design.

I completed three of my targeted eight pieces for my new proposal. I like the outcome of these pieces because they are very stylized. The way that I figured out how to color in the black and white images almost catches some sort of emotion, I really feel the distance when I look at image now. I need to keep on trucking and doing what I do. The timeline I set was pretty accurate as well.

I have finished the medical illustration pieces, they were difficult in the beginning to manipulate the way I wanted them to, but eventually I figured out how to deal with them. I created a standard size I wanted them to all be and went from that, I removed any white from each individual piece and worked to design them in an overlaying fashion. I like the finished product.

A couple of idea have been running through my head since I have finished the last project. I was wondering around the internet looking for images and ideas and stumbled across a website that had a bunch of medical illustrations. I had the idea to use these images to crate some artwork because the images alone, in singular form, looked really cool.

I completed my previous goal of finishing 5 gun silhouette pieces. As I continued to start new pieces it became easier and easier to connect and invent new ideas as to why I did what I did. I worked really hard getting things perfect and to my own liking. I feel as if you are at least slightly pleased with your own work then you will have success from the public. I need to get them printed and framed, but they look good for now.

I have completed half of the gun silhouettes, so far it has been a lot of tough work, but I like the finished result. The tool used to create a shape layer (lasso tool) can be extremely frustrating, you have to click each time to make a new point and if you accidently click twice in the same spot it ends the shape layer and you have to restart. I have some experience using the tool so it only has happened a couple times…when I wasn’t paying attention. I am working hard to complete the rest of the pieces and am hoping they all turn out well to.

Working towards meeting my requirements after my second revision had become progressively easier. I learned to use better tricks and it was much easier for me to work on each individual piece. I was working much to hard before on trying to get the images to fit together. I found it was much easier for me to take images from a large range. I basically broadend my project to help me find the correct type of images. I have since completed the ten pieces I proposed in the beginning of the marking period. I feel that I have exceeded my project proposal and am happy with the outcome of my work.

Since I have made the revision to my portfolio project I have been able to produce much stronger work. The first proposal was not for me, it didn’t turn out the way I expected. I have made an effort to finish ten pieces within my given due dates. These pieces reflect my work stronger than previously. So far, I have six pieces finished. I am working hard on my computer and I hope my work reflects that work ethic. The images I am seeking for are difficult to find. Sometimes they aren’t big enough or they don’t have the right meaning I’m trying to portray. I just need to keep working and I will meet my due dates.

Working in portfolio is difficult for me because I am also in honors and it is quite confusing trying to manage my time correctly. Other than the fact that it is weird for me to manage my time evenly in both of my courses I really enjoy the idea of portfolio. I was sick for two days and that has made me work very hard to catch up in honors. I have been working on photoshop on the computer for portfolio and what I have decided to commit to is actually working out quite well. It is difficult to get the right images but other than I am working diligently. I may want to revise my assignment in the near future to allow more room to change the physical image. I am going to start working on my projects once the first do date for honors is done.
